About :)

Alice Gillette (she/her) is a comedian and teaching artist in Denver, Colorado. Originally from Western Maryland, she embarked on her performance career in Portland, Oregon (if that’s okay) , before relocating to Denver, where she embraced the art of clowning (no worries if not!)

As a producer and performer, she’s presented her work across the United States. With her friends, Alice created and produced Idiot Theatre, Denver's first bi-monthly clown show, which ran from 2022 to 2024 at comedy clubs across the city, receiving accolades from local press outlets for its "startling yet goofy" characters.

With a unique approach to contemporary clowning, Alice delves into themes of fatalism, patriarchy, and upward mobility through her clown Meat Show: a high-value man who’s a paradox of strength and vulnerability. Her portrayal of Meat Show has garnered acclaim from critics who’ve described her performances as “hilarious and hard-hitting” (Out Front Magazine) and “fun and bizarre” (Denver Westword).

Alice’s first solo show, Meat Show in Space, debuted it’s first iteration in June 2025 at the Denver Fringe Festival. Her show was immediately highlighted as, “a standout example of the festival’s signature blend of absurdity” by Denver Westword when it premiered. Audiences say Meat Show in Space “masterfully delivers complex, insightful themes in a delightfully dadaist package” and label it as “a one-of-a-kind, must-see show”.

In addition to her performance work, Alice teaches clown classes for adults and leads creative process workshops for performing artists in Denver, emphasizing critique and feedback as pathways to spark grounded and profound ideas. She also hosts Uncanny Valley, a free monthly clown jam at Denver’s Chaos Bloom Theater.
