About :)

Alice Gillette is a performance artist, director, teacher and clown in Denver, Colorado. Alice is the founder, curator and producer of the annual Freaky Weeky Clown Festival at the Buntport Theater in Denver and has toured her solo show, Meat Show in Space, all over the United States. She’s also the co-founder and producer of Idiot Theatre, a performance collective in Denver.

Her work has been described as “a standout example of absurdity” (Denver Westword) and “a force to be reckoned with in alt comedy” (Out Front Magazine). Alice has performed at theaters across the United States, including The Elysian Theater (LA), Kickstand Comedy (PDX) and The Pig Iron Theatre Company (Philly).

As a director and instructor, Alice works with people to make things bravely by finding what makes you special on the inside and using play to radiate it outwards to the audience.

Alice’s process is consent-forward, ensuring every student explores their boundaries with respect and at their own pace. Her methodology is informed by her training with artists like the The Idiot Workshop, Ian Bratschie, Cassie Ahiers, Deanna Fleysher, Adam Smith, Chad Damiani and Anne Zander.
