BUMPSY

Bumpsy is a hallucinatory survival guide for the modern adult who’s pondering: “What happens when the childhood imagination gets an abortion?”

Don’t worry! Bumpsy’s doing her best. She starts every day with morning pages and a light suckle from the titty of her smartphone. Today, she’s searching for enlightenment while dodging her mother’s obsession with being only “five pounds away” from a life that matters.

(Wait… we have to maintain our bodies AND exchange our time for money for… *gestures at everythingthis?!)

Mid-scroll, a freak accident turns Bumpsy’s routine into a literal death trap. She's forced to confront if any of this matters while hoping someone’s recording this for content (*fingers crossed*).

Accompanied by a live score and a handcrafted world, Katie Bowman delivers a visceral clown show where the audience is the muse and the protagonist just wants to survive her own funeral.

ABOUT THE CAST & CREW

Katie Bowman is a comedic performer and artist based out of Denver. Bowman has been bopping around the Denver comedy scene since 2014 with a background in improv, stand-up, clown, and the visual arts. Bowman has been featured on comedy festivals and podcasts all over the country and released her first comedy special/album with Burn This Records in 2024 titled, Neurodivergent Nightmare. Her album also hit Number 1 on iTunes and Amazon the week it came out.

Alice Gillette (director/outside eye) and Bryan Richard Martin (composer/live scoring) help performers find the specific, visceral inspiration already living inside them.

By combining Alice’s consent-forward physical comedy experience with Bryan’s background in multidisciplinary composition, they help performing artists build grounded and layered worlds. Their process relies on helping artists craft a live dialogue between movement and sound onstage using a shorthand they’ve developed at venues like The Elysian (Los Angeles), The People’s Building (Aurora) and The Pig Iron Theatre Company (Philly).

Most recently, they collaborated on a national run of Meat Show in Space and founded the Freaky Weeky Clown and Alt-Comedy Festival at Denver’s Buntport Theater. Their individual and collaborative work has been in NPR, Vice, Rolling Stone and Denver Westword.
